Taper Baguette

The Taper Baguette is a sophisticated variation of the classic baguette cut. Both forms trace their origins to the 16th century, once known as “hogbacks.” Their modern identity, however, emerged in the early 20th century, becoming signature elements of Art Deco and Modernist design. Like the traditional baguette, the Taper Baguette features a minimal number of facets — typically 33 — arranged in parallel to the girdle. This precise alignment lends the stone its sharp geometry, clean lines, and subtle brilliance typical of step cuts.

Taper Baguettes are widely used as side stones in fine jewelry, seamlessly complementing center stones with step cuts such as Emerald, Asscher, or Princess. Their streamlined silhouette enhances the elegance and balance of the overall composition.

The tapered baguette shape is a favorite among those who appreciate modern minimalism and clean, structured lines.
